Rémi Chauvin – The Unconformity_General Queenstown Scenes_034_lowres

At the far edge of an island at the bottom of the world, a road winds into the mountains.
At its end – a valley shaped by rain, fire, and deep time. This is Queenstown. This is where we gather. But the festival doesn't begin here. It begins when you leave home.

Getting Here

Your journey west begins here. Winding roads, wild landscapes, and your festival adventure awaits. Take your time. Plan your stops. Drive alert, arrive ready. The road west is part of the adventure — make it a safe one

To reach the West Coast of Lutruwita/Tasmania is to commit to the journey. A four-hour drive from Launceston or Nipaluna/Hobart will take you through mountain ranges, rainforest, and historic, industrial towns – a journey as much about where you're going as how you get there.

Take your time. Stop and explore. Hike a trail. Breathe the air. Let the landscape shift something in you before you descend into Queenstown and join the festival.

Every Road West tells a Story

With remote roads and long stretches between towns, the journey deserves your full attention. That’s why this year, we’re launching our Safe Journeys campaign – encouraging all travellers to slow down, plan ahead, and travel mindfully.

No festival moment is worth risking a life for – and your journey should be just as memorable as your time at The Unconformity. The Road West Awaits. Take it slow. Arrive ready.

Regional Bus Service

A regional bus service will operate throughout the festival, connecting Queenstown with towns across the North West. Whether you stay in Burnie, Tullah, Rosebery, Zeehan or Strahan, you'll still be part of the story. Click here for more information.

This sustainable transport initiative is proudly supported by GHD.

More to Discover

The Unconformity is shaped by this place – its people, its histories, its contradictions. Go further and you'll find more: weathered facades, quiet waters, deep wilderness, and the ongoing presence of Country.

This region doesn't reveal itself all at once. It asks you to stay, to look again, to dig a little deeper.
