Performance artist Luke George retraces his roots in Lutruwita/Tasmania, recalling in particular the impacts of people on forests and forests on people. Hanging in a state of balance with a log that is equal in weight to his body, Luke engages with something much greater, floating a history that is both ancient and urgent. By suspending the human will to power, this artwork invites other memories, including those of the ecosystem, to become sensible.

The Unconformity acknowledges the palawa people as the original and traditional custodians of Lutruwita/Tasmania. We commit to working respectfully to honour their ongoing cultural and spiritual connections to this land.
