A visual artist based in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, Arif's practice examines the complex intersections of memory, history, and identity. Through various mediums, including photography, archiving practice and research, and installation, his work centres on intimate domestic narratives and the fragile mechanisms through which memory is preserved and transmitted. In 2021, Arif was awarded the Prince Claus Seed Award for Unhistoried, an artistic and research project exploring Indonesian family photo archives from the New Order regime.

His work has been presented at Jogja Fotografis Festival, Jakarta International Photo Festival, Cemeti Institute for Arts and Society, Padepokan Seni Bagong Kussudiardja, and the Jogja Biennale. He is currently conducting research and developing artistic projects that map vernacular documentation practices and the memory landscape of Indonesian families from the 1960s to the 1990s.
